What's Eating Annie Grape?

Weight Loss Update:
I regret to inform you....that I have officially fallen off the bandwagon.  The holiday foods proved to be entirely too much for this gal to withstand.  After indulging myself for nearly a month, I ended up gaining about 3 pounds.  It is unfortunate, but completely my own doing.  As I was looking through my Christmas photos, I became very afraid.  I was officially the heaviest I have ever been, other than pregnancy, and found myself to be embarrassed.  Something had to change or I was headed down a very unhealthy path.  I thought about my dad having both high cholesterol and diabetes.  I thought about my mom having high blood pressure and other health problems.  The more thought I put into it, the more it began to hit me that we really only get one life to live.  I mean, I am only going to be 29 this year and I will never be 29 again.  Is this really how I want to live?  Overweight and letting food completely consume my life?????  Yeah, no. Things are going to change. I thought I would quietly scurry back to Weight Watchers with my tail between my legs and see if I could get some of the weight back off before anyone noticed.

I am proud to tell you that last week I lost 4.8 pounds and am well on my way to the old me.  Between healthy eating, giving up pop and trying to move more, it worked!  The unhealthy foods just don't seem to be worth it anymore.  Well, that is not entirely true.... I passed the candy bar aisle last night while doing my weekly shopping trip and nearly had an out of body experience as I almost could not tear myself away from the idea of eating one!  In recalling the near "death by chocolate" experience to Danny, I described it to be what Edward must have felt like when he was around Bella in Twilight. (Yep, I read it and LOVED it.)

Here are a few changes our family has made that are helping us get healthy:

1.  E-Mealz:   E-Mealz has been a wonderful tool for those who are interested in eating healthy on a budget.  They even make your grocery list out for you based on the store you use the most.  How much easier does it get than that?  I believe they even have a Groupon out right now for 50% off if you are interested.  Check them out!!!
2.  NO POP:  Giving up Cherry Coke has been great for our family.  We no longer even keep pop in the house for the time being.  It also makes for a nice treat when we are out and about now.
3.  Vegetarian Days:  I rarely eat any form of meat during the day, which has helped me to focus more on getting my "daily five" fruits and veggies in before dinner.  Now that is not to say that I didn't consume a fantastic steak last night. :)
4.  Plan ahead for Lunch:  Gonna be running errands during the lunch hour?  Bring something healthy to snack tide you over until you can get home.  Playdate scheduled at someone's house?  Offer to potluck.  The more you eat in, the less processed foods you will consume!

As always, thanks for listening and I look forward to reporting more healthy updates and tips for our family.  What is working for you and your family?
